Possession of a valid Certified Pool Operator's certificate within six (6) months from date of hire. Possession of a valid CPR instructor, first aid instructor and lifeguard instructor certificate within six (6) months from date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire. Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Supervisor and/or lead experience preferred. Three (3) seasons (Summer, Spring, Fall and/or Winter) of aquatic program experience. Three (3) seasons (Summer, Spring, Fall and/or Winter) as a lifeguard. Possession of a valid CPR, first aid and lifeguard certificate. Applicants 15 years of age may be eligible for the entry level position with a required work permit. Possession of a valid Cash Handling certification from the City of Albuquerque within three (3) months from date of hire. Possession of a valid water attraction lifeguard certificate or swim lesson instructor certificate if teaching swimming lessons within three (3) months from date of hire. Office and/or clerical support experience preferred. ![]() Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Supervise employees at an assigned City swimming facility maintain facility according to State, City and department regulations assist in public relations. Lead, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for ensuring safety at City swimming pools instruct swimming, lifesaving and safety courses assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the swimming facility and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. ![]() Monitor activities in City swimming areas prevent accidents and provide customer service and assistance to swimmers while keeping a safe aquatic environment rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid as needed assist with the instruction of aquatic swimming and safety courses and assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the swimming facility. LIFEGUARD/SWIM INSTRUCTOR - Hourly Rate $12.50 : This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Perform a variety of clerical tasks in support of assigned area to include assisting with cashiering, basic sorting, filing and/ or copying assist with the instruction of aquatic swimming and safety courses and assist in general maintenance and upkeep of the Aquatics facility.
